NEBRASKA'S FIRST PRO WOMEN'S SPORTING EVENT
A GRASSROOTS EFFORT. A HISTORIC FIRST.
In 2025, the Lincoln Pro Women's Tennis Open earned an ITF Recognition Star — an honor given to a select group of tournaments each year for outstanding player experience, professional administration, and consistent execution.
OUR 'WHY'
The Lincoln Pro Women’s Open was founded to give Nebraska a permanent stage for elite women’s athletics. When it debuted in 2023 at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center, it made history as the first professional women’s sporting event ever held in Nebraska—paving the way for the state’s booming women's sports landscape.
built by community
Long before the ITF sanctioning and corporate sponsors, this tournament was built from scratch by local coaches, organizers, and tennis enthusiasts:
-
Hometown execution: Powered by area volunteers, Lincoln high school ball crews, and Nebraska tennis staff.
-
Local investment: Backed by Lincoln businesses investing directly in elite women's athletics.
-
World-class facility: Hosted on the championship courts of the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.
PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER
Women’s sports are seeing historic momentum, and Lincoln is leading the charge rather than watching from the sidelines.
-
Up-close inspiration: Giving young Nebraska athletes a front-row seat to world-class competitors.
-
Global stage: Bringing international tennis professionals from across the globe to Lincoln.
-
A clear statement: Proving that world-class women’s professional sports thrive right here at home.
Four Years of Growth
What began as a grassroots milestone in 2023 is now entering its fourth year in 2026 as a premier stop on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
-
Elite standard: Awarded an ITF Recognition Star, placing Lincoln among the top tier of best-run ITF tournaments worldwide.
-
Deeper talent: Attracting stronger international fields and higher-ranked professional players each November.
-
Long-term home: Solidifying Nebraska's status as a premier destination for championship women's sports.
